Well it's been around 100 degrees in Medford for the past couple weeks and we're miserable! I hate the heat. I'd be happy with 65 degree, semi-cloudy weather for the whole year. Hmmm, maybe I should move to Portland. We've been spending some of our days at the pool - Katelyn's been taking swimming lessons this summer at the Country Club and loving it! She cried during the first 2 but now is having so much fun. I get in the pool with her and, along with her teacher Janelle, help teach her how to kick, paddle, and blow bubbles (we're still working on that last one, she mostly likes to drink the water!) We also find lots of indoor activities to do like coloring, reading, and playing chase around the house. Katelyn loves to be outside so it's been a rough couple weeks keeping her occupied.

Our trip to Portland a couple weeks ago went well, although it was hot up there too. We went to the zoo, which was a bit of a disappointment - it was so hot that many of the animals were in hiding and some of the good exhibits like the baby elephant were closed. We also went to the Wiggles concert at the Rose Garden which was a blast! Katelyn was a little overwhelmed by everything (we were in the 4th row) but Ryan and I had so much fun. We (well, I) also snuck in a little bit of Nordstrom time while we were up there :) We stayed in Eugene with Ryan's dad on the way up and back. Katelyn loves visiting her Papa and had so much fun feeding their cat Rocky. She also did so well in the car, thanks in part to the DVD player Breanne let us borrow and our newly purchased Dora DVD. Although that didn't last too long, so we sang songs, read books, and I did everything else in my power to keep our busy little girl occupied. We had a blast on our first family vacation of the summer! Now we're just hoping it cools down soon!!!

That Dora video also helped us some on the way up I-5. Didn't last long, but it did help ease a pretty cranky moment :)
